With temperatures in the 90s and golfers walking around in shorts and light shirts, it hardly seems appropriate to be thinking about heat, snow and ice.
Or, for that matter, to even be thinking of wintry days and stone-cold floors, snow-covered driveways or roof problems caused by snow and ice.
But, better now than when the snow flies.
"It's inevitable," says Jack Lucas of Heatizon Systems. "It will get cold again and people should begin to think about it now. The cold penetrates even the coziest of homes through basements and hard surface floor coverings. Anyone with tile, hardwood and marble floors is familiar with the hesitant footsteps and shivers that accompany the intrusive cold of Utah winters.
"We have the perfect solution to Utah's cold floors," he adds.
Heatizon manufactures a complete line of low-voltage radiant heating and snow-melt products that use a Z-Mesh, a bronze wire mesh material under floors to create the most comfortable heat available. It also has an under-roof product for eave and valley melt and Tuff Cable, a copper cable element that is embedded in concrete, asphalt or under pavers to melt snow and heat entire buildings.
The Heatizon System can be designed to take the chill off a floor or heat a cold, carpeted basement. It can also be used as the sole heating source for an entire home.
Heatizon's roof de-icing system is installed under the roof so it cannot be seen or damage, yet can melt snow and ice.
According to Mike Bench, manager of the local Warmquest installation team, "The Z-Mesh is flat, like the fabric in a screen door, and is so simple to install that it can be stapled down to a wood sub-floor or glued to a concrete slab.
"Nearly every type of floor covering available can be placed on top of it, including tile, hardwood, carpet, and slate. This makes the system easy to retrofit into existing homes and ideal for finishing a cold basement."
The flexibility and simplicity of the Heatizon System, he continues, are not the only benefits.
"The system's solid state design with no moving parts means that maintenance is minimal. Most of the systems that have been installed in the last 25 years have never needed a service call," Bench says. "In fact, the products will self-diagnose and report any assistance from a service technician.
"Our snow-melt products are the most state-of-the-art and energy efficient available on the market today," he continues. "With our snow-melt products customers can do as little or as much areas as they desire and in any geometric shape imaginable. Some people do entire driveways and walkways, while others choose to do only tire tracks or narrow walkways."
"This system eliminates the need for salting and shoveling during the winter, as well as reduces risk of accidents that often occur during the colder months," says Paul Hilbig of Heatizon RH South of Provo.
"This is the same system used on the UTA's TRAX access ramps, the Old Town Transit Center in Park City, the new LDS Conference Center at Temple Square, as well as residential applications."
Heatizon's roof de-icing system is installed under the roof and not on top, therefore it cannot be seen or damaged by the elements, yet can melt snow and ice. It can also be installed under all types of roofs, including shingles, metal, shake and membrane.
Installing a snow-melt system in side-walks and drive-ways eliminates the need for salting and shoveling during the winter.
The low voltage aspect also makes the system 100 percent efficient. In fact, the system was given the "Energy Star" rating for energy efficiency. The low voltage also makes it one of the safest systems available on the market and enables it to pass all testing required to be approved by the ETL to UL standards.
Heatizon Systems' products take up no floor space, require no exhaust or free air venting, and consume only one energy source rather than two required by other systems. In addition, they do not need to be de-rated for elevations above sea level and always operate at the proper capacity to attain maximum energy efficiency.
Heatizon Systems manufactures a complete line of quality low voltage products mat include applications for roof de-icing, snow melt in drive ways and sidewalks, and its newest system the "Floorizwarm" for smaller areas.
These products are sold both nationally and internationally. For more information, call 801-293-1232.
