What Is A Product Listing?

At Heatizon Systems, we regularly state that all of our products are listed. What does it mean to have a product listed? Why does a listing matter to a customer? And what do acronyms like ETL, UL, CSA, OSHA, and NRTL mean?

Our products are ETL (Electrical Testing Laboratory) listed to UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and CSA (Canadian Standard Association) standards based on their intended use. These listings are from an independent Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for testing and certifying electrical products.

To put it simply, an independent organization recognized by OSHA has tested our products to ensure they meet the UL or CSA standards to which they are listed.

Each Heatizon product’s listing includes each of the applications for which it is used. For example, ZMesh is listed for both interior floor heat and under shingle roof deicing. We do this to ensure that our products will perform when correctly installed for the application they are sold for.

It is not uncommon for some companies to sell unlisted products, or suggest products tested for one application as appropriate for entirely different uses. When you purchase from Heatizon you can rest assured you are investing in a listed product.

When looking at any electrical product, understanding the listing it carries can be a helpful factor in the decision making process. Products bearing the marks from ETL, UL and other recognized organizations have been rigorously tested to meet specific standards.
