What is ZMesh? ZMesh is a 9” or 12” wide durable bronze heating element that resembles screen door material. It is used to add warmth to cold floors, total space heat and melt ice and snow off roofs. |
Does ZMesh cause any floor buildup? No, because it is “paper thin” no floor buildup or construction alteration is required. ZMesh is 1/32” thick and 1/16” on the fold back. This is not the case with other types of radiant heat systems. |
Does ZMesh use a thermostat? How is it activated? Each system uses an attractive programmable thermostat. The thermostat can be programmed to measure floor temperature, air temperature, or it can be set to be on at desired times. |
How is ZMesh secured to the floor? On wood subfloors, ZMesh can be directly stapled down. On a concrete sub floor, the Zmesh can be glued down. Whoever is installing the flooring over the ZMesh can do so as if the ZMesh were not even there. Hardi Backerboard, Wonderboard, Durarock, or Plastic lathe (not metal lathe) should be used when installing tile on top of the ZMesh. |
What kind of flooring material can I install over ZMesh? Virtually any floor surface can be installed directly over the ZMesh, including tile, slate, marble, vinyl, hardwood and carpet. Never put bean bags, LoveSac’s mattresses, or any other insulators directly on a floor that is heated with ZMesh. |
What system do you recommend under tile, slate, or marble? Zmesh is to be installed under Durarock, Wonderboard, Hardy Backerboard or mud bed with plastic lathe on a wood sub-floor. ZMesh should not be installed when metal lathe is used in the flooring installation. ZMesh can be installed on concrete using flooring adhesive to hold the ZMesh in place. ZMesh can be installed using a thin set mortar bed. |
What system do you recommend under hardwood flooring? ZMesh is the ideal system for heating under Hardwood floors. ZMesh is installed directly under the hardwood flooring and nails can pierce the ZMesh without causing any damage to the system. Nails or screws can pierce the ZMesh as long as they do not come in contact with any conductive materials like heat ducts, water pipes, etc. |
How does ZMesh and radiant heat affect hardwood flooring? ZMesh, and the heat produced by it, have no negative effect on hardwood, or any other type of flooring that we are aware of. |
What system do you recommend under carpet? ZMesh is also ideal system for heating under carpet. ZMesh can be installed directly under the carpet pad. |
Can I heat my existing floor? Can I still use your floor warming system? Yes, if you have access to underneath the existing floor, ZMesh can be installed between the floor joists. |
How long is the warranty? ZMesh comes with an industry leading, 25-year manufacturer’s warranty. ZMesh is ETL Listed and conforms to UL Standard 1693. |
How long has ZMesh been in use? ZMesh was first introduced in 1979. Since then thousands of Zmesh systems have been sold worldwide. |
What are the power requirements for your systems? The power requirements vary from system to system. Generally ZMesh heating systems require a 120 volt supply, single pole, 20 amp breaker for areas less than 100 sq. ft.. 240 volt supply, double pole, 20 amp breaker for areas between 100 sq. ft. and 300 sq. ft. and for areas larger than 300 sq. ft. requires 240 volt supply, double pole, 30 amp breaker. |
