HZ-ICE includes an industrial DC UPS (with two 12V/5Ah sealed lead-acid batteries) that keeps the BACnet controller and alarm reporting active for approximately 7 hours after grid AC fails. The heating cables do not run on battery — there is not enough energy for that — but the panel’s intelligence stays active. The amber door pilot illuminates during battery operation. When grid power returns, the panel resumes normal operation automatically. The battery backup uses industrial-grade components rather than consumer UPS hardware, eliminating the replacement cycles associated with consumer battery backup products.
