The outdoor air temperature (OAT) lockout prevents HZ-ICE from activating heating in conditions where it is not useful or not appropriate. The default high cutoff is 40°F — above this temperature, snow melts on its own and heating is wasted energy. The default low cutoff is 20°F — below this temperature, the heating cables cannot keep up with the cold and the panel stops rather than run continuously. Both cutoffs are customer-adjustable from the dashboard. The OAT lockout remains active even during Force-On override, protecting the heating cables from running in conditions they were not designed for.
